Why isn’t this place packed all the time? The chef beat Bobby Flay and I can clearly see why. Everything is made from scratch. I had the tasting menu on my first visit, then the short rib mezzaluna and braised octopus (beyond tasty) on my next visit. The ramp agnolotti, ribeye are phenomenal. The service is top notch. I’ve walked by this place multiple times and I wish I dined here sooner. The flavors are unlike anything I’ve tasted and IL Ritorno blows every Italian restaurant out of the water!
Some of the best food I have had in Saint Petersburg since I moved here. Chandler was amazing. He took care of us & was so knowledgeable on liquor, the cuisine and everything throughout our dining experience. Literally cannot recommend more!!!! Thank you Chandler
Wish we had taken better note of our servers name but we had the best experience, thanks to our attentive, knowledgeable server. Above and beyond in accommodating for dietary restrictions. We needed gluten free options and the server was attentive and went above and beyond for us to ensure allergy needs were met. Take note, the menu on the website is not up to date, so it’s worth calling ahead or asking upon arrival. We had reservations for a Friday evening - this place does start to fill up after 6pm, it seems. Sitting outside is a nice option, there is a lot of foot traffic passing by the restaurant and the tables are out on the sidewalk but this did not alter our dining experience. Fresh cuisine, made in house with great attention to detail. Steak was perfectly cooked and they carve it off the bone making it a pleasant plating experience.
What can we say? Chef David Benstock is on top of his game. His pasta dishes are always superb - perfect pasta, sauces full of flavor and whimsy. On our most recent visit, we had the ramp Agnolotti, which was spot-on. But the real stars were the appetizers: Spanish octopus and mussels with lamb njuda and Calabrian chilies. And Chef Benstock's version of a burrata salad (thanks, chef!). Oh, wow! Amazing bold flavors and lots of levels. And bartender Chandler served us with some great, creative drinks.
My wife booked us a night at the Chefs Counter, for my birthday. The service was amazing, sparkling and still water immediately and a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. The night started with moist towles soaked in a lemongrass basil water, which was a nice touch. I'm not going to dive into each course here, but they were all amazing. BUT the iberico and the sauce was over the top good and the waygu -also the caviar pasta was amazing.. ok it was all the best food I've ever eaten. See pictures. The restaurant was quiet and wasn't very busy which seemed strange and it made sitting at the Chefs Counter almost uncomfortable as there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant except workers, lots of workers all seeming to hang around the chefs counter which makes sense but was a little uncomfortable. The chef took time to explain every dish to us and that was very nice. It was a great time, the atmosphere just threw me off because of how quiet and empty the place was. We ended up ordering 3 cocktails for a total of $57.00, they tasted good and came out quick. Id love to go again, overall it was a great time!!
