Maple Street Biscuit Company in St. Petersburg is the kind of place that makes you believe, just for a moment, that everything might be okay in this cracked old world. It smells like biscuits and hope. I ordered the Squawking Goat, which sounds like the punchline of a bad joke but tastes like salvation. A fried chicken biscuit with goat cheese and pepper jelly—impossible and perfect, like a unicorn in a Sunday hat. It melted together in my mouth like a poorly run government melting down in July, only delicious. I ate it while watching the sun glare off the window, wondering how something so chaotic could come together so harmoniously. My wife had the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, which is what God would’ve eaten on the seventh day if He hadn’t been too busy resting. The biscuit was fluffy and warm like a Southern grandmother’s hug, and the bacon had that righteous crunch, the kind that makes you pause mid-chew and reconsider your life choices. We didn’t talk much while eating. Not out of silence, but reverence. These weren’t just biscuits. They were small, greasy meditations on joy and cholesterol. We left full of food and questions—mainly, how soon was too soon to come back?
Sat outside and had some Sunday brunch here and the food was great. I ordered the chicken and waffles and was not disappointed in the slightest. The chicken was fresh and the lady bringing out the food made my day. I’d eat this all the time if I was in the area.
An outstanding experience from start to finish. Thank you to *Shea* for being so helpful and amazing. I got the farmer per recommendation and it was just heavenly. The heaping serving of apple butter on top of a perfect cooked piece of chicken and those biscuits are to die for. I think I even tasted some maple in my chai. I will be back for more!!!
Maple Street Biscuit Company, where my taste buds were baptized in maple goodness and my waistband got an upgrade! First off, let’s talk about the maple iced coffee. Holy syrupy heaven! I’m pretty sure they just straight-up poured maple syrup, a little caffeine, and a splash of ‘goodbye productivity’ into that cup. Each sip felt like a sweet, sticky hug from a Canadian lumberjack in a flannel. Now, onto the five and dime taco. I don’t even know where to start. Imagine a biscuit so fluffy it probably had its own cloud membership, stacked with fried chicken, smoked bacon, cheddar, and eggs. Then they slap on some gravy for good measure. This thing is so loaded, I felt like I needed a nap halfway through. I’m convinced this taco could bring world peace if only it didn’t make people too full to negotiate. All in all, Maple Street Biscuit Co. was an experience. They should hand out stretchy pants with each meal. 10/10 would let this place ruin my diet again.
If you do not care much about flavor, you might enjoy this place. But if you know what good, flavorful food tastes like, you will probably be disappointed. The only thing with any taste was the bacon, which is hard to mess up. The vegetables, eggs, and especially the breakfast potatoes were bland. I could not even finish the potatoes, and I usually love them. The atmosphere made things worse. It was chaotic, the tables were dirty, the half and half kept running out, and there was maple syrup spilled on the floors. I understand we came during a busy time, but their setup does not seem efficient. The service was good but I will not be coming back.
