Stumbled across this while out for Sunday Funday pub hopping, I'm from Germany, had to check it out! Place is great! Nice decor with a Euro vibe, real friendly host/server/bartender! Had to try the CurryWurst (I'm from Berlin, these are a must) it did not disappoint!!! While the curry sauce wasn't what I'm used to it was GOOD! You have to get the plate with a side of the curry sauce & mayo (for the fries) do NOT skip the mayo. Very good! The brat and sauerkraut were delicious as well, not many 'on tap' options for german beer, but what they had was also good! Def recommend and I'll gladly stop by here again when in St. Pete!
So you might look at this menu and think, "so it's pretty much sausage and schnitzel," and you'd be right. But wow do they do it so well. I got the curry schnitzel: the curry is house made, the pork is perfectly fried, and the potato salad has that vinegary kick. Paired with a cold beer and good service, and you're in for a really great experience. The portions are huge, too (two big cutlets in the schnitzel order), so you're getting good value for your money. Please do yourself a favor and come here at least once for a hearty meal or even a beer while you're out and about on Central.
My wife and I ordered two Jager Schnitzel and a separate order of Spaetzle to go. Upon getting home we looked at the Spaetzle and it was nothing more than Linguine and mushrooms. Paid $13 dollars for this. I want to really like this place but this makes it difficult.
German Knodle is easily my favorite restaurant on Central! Every single time I go, the food is consistently amazing, and the service is always attentive. My go-to order is the Jäger schnitzel with a side of fries. The schnitzel comes with two pieces, so the portion is huge—perfect for taking some home for another meal or splitting with my boyfriend. And the fries? Crispy, garlicky, and absolutely delicious. I’ve been here so many times, and it never disappoints. 10/10 recommend!
The schnitzel was outstanding and the beer was cold and delicious. The service was great and the German potato salad was amazing. This is hands down the best food I have had in St. Pete. I we would recommend it and will be back
