We visited The Library for lunch on 12/30, drawn in by its presentation and inspiration from the George Peabody Library, but unfortunately, it felt like a bit of a catfish. The interior is still cute but far more open and spacious than the intimate vibe the imagery suggested. Despite having a reservation and arriving on time, we waited 5–10 minutes to be seated, as it seemed like they were running on a skeleton crew. Our server was kind and clearly doing his best and while he managed the workload admirably, we didn’t see much of him, and there was little explanation or recommendation of dishes. As for the food: Chai Latte: Tasted more like milk than chai. Roasted Yellow Tomato Soup: Surprisingly spicy and probably the best part of the meal. Warm Burrata: Disappointing. The arugula pesto was strong but lost in the cheese, and the tomato confit lacked sweetness and depth. BLT: Nothing special. The bread felt like sandwich bread, and the over-well egg tasted rubbery. Red Gem Caesar with Salmon: The salmon portion was small and didn’t taste fresh. The confit tomatoes lacked flavor, and while the cured egg yolk was a nice touch, the dish was underwhelming overall. Truffle Fries: Not worth it. We ordered them not knowing the BLT already came with fries (a miscommunication from our server). They lacked truffle flavor, tasting more like lightly seasoned fries. Overall, the experience fell far below expectations, given the imagery, menu descriptions, and price point. While the service staff did their best under the circumstances, the food and overall ambiance were a letdown.
Perfection! The dishes were divine, lots of flavor and were expertly presented. We will be stopping here every time we are in town! Cocktails and mocktails had depth and were delicious. Filet was cooked perfectly. Salmon and gnocchi dish was perfect. Vodka rigatoni was creamy and they had no problem subbing chicken for the shrimp. The beet salad was so fresh and tasty. The bread plate is an absolute must! The book lined walls and decor set the tone for a wonderful evening. The incredibly attentive staff brought it home! This place also has a good looking coffee and pastry bar. Read about the history of the library, very interesting.
We had a positive experience for brunch. We had one drink, the deviled eggs, and pancakes, fruit...with tip $75. It was a nice treat since we cut back on eating out. Everything was tasty. Server was great. Hostess was awkward. They had a guy playing music outside. Lots of seating.
Food was good, the benne cauliflower especially was life-changing, but took FOREVER for lunch on a Monday at maaaaybe 30% occupancy. 30 minutes for shareables, another 30 for entrees, and cocktails took a longer time than usual. Everyone else received their drinks well before me, by at least 15 minutes. Wasn’t sure if there was a disconnect between the server and the bartender, the server and the kitchen, or it was an all-around rough day for the place. Let’s chalk it up to a bad Monday. However, for our first time and high expectations with our previous times at Oxford Exchange, this experience was terribly subpar. Our server was too soft spoken and our experience was tainted by the general lackadaisical feel of the place and employees. Manager on duty could be seen sweeping around tables, but no one present at the host stand. Beautiful setting, poor execution. Will return to Oxford Exchange; will not return to The Library. **** KUDOS to your gentleman food runner during the shift, who was polite, friendly, and funny. He lightened the mood and reminded us why we came in the first place. He was your hype-man when it came to the food and would have been better suited as our server.
Everything was amazing. From the start, walking into their brunch, the mood was set. I was ready to have a good time with good people. The DJ was a great selection of music to get the crowd moving in their seats.. It was packed with so many people, and we did not have a reservation, but our server managed to get us a table outside under an umbrella with fans, so it felt great. Then our mimosas and drinks came out, they were great. However, the food was on a whole other level. The French toast stole the show. Our server was so sweet, polite, and professional. We had such a great time with lots of laughter. I recommend everyone try out this restaurant at least one time. You can thank me later. I'll be back with my family.
